Board of Directors

Ariel Acevedo

President and Co-Founder

I am the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Gift of Giving Foundation. I am responsible for the vision and national fundraising efforts for The Gift of Giving Foundation as it expands across the country.

I attended Florida International University where I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance in 2011. I have developed a strong sense of devotion for the nonprofit sector as a beneficiary for the Make-A-Wish Foundation nearly 5 years ago. This experience gave me a deeper appreciation for how nonprofits seek to improve the quality of life for others nationwide. I am a Hemophiliac who has been through plenty of trials during my life due to my health, so I have first hand experienced many moments of volunteering and giving back to others who suffer from a chronic illness like myself and these past experiences have compelled him to create The Gift of Giving Foundation.

Elsie Acevedo

Executive Director

Elsie Acevedo-I am a mom with identical twins that were born with a rare chronic medical condition. Growing up, I had a brother with a several chronic medical condition as well. After moving to South Florida, I had the opportunity to meet other families with my sons’ condition.

As time went by, different educational programs and groups were created for the community. Those programs helped us parents as well as the patients in regards to receiving an educational concept of what we were living with on a daily basis with our loved ones affected with such a chronic health condition. During many occasions, I was asked to talk to new incoming families that were diagnosed and were facing many challenges with their new diagnosis. As time went by, I realized that I had an increased personal interest for helping others with any chronic illness, no matter what it was. My greatest satisfaction is opening my hands and being able to provide help to other.

Milly Gonzalez

Secretary

I am a mother of three children which all were born with a chronic condition. In 1985, I obtained my Master’s degree in Social Services from New York University (NYU). After having my children and being a stay home mom for many years, I decided to become a Registered Nurse (RN). My decision in changing professions was the need that I had to face with my children and their chronic condition. I needed to know how to take care of my kids’ condition in a professional aspect. By becoming an RN, I was able to help taking care of my love ones.
